Medminder is an automatic pill dispensing device, that helps to take pills on scheduled time. It comes with a mobile app and a companion wristband that can wirelessly connect to the smartphone app, to track the patient location. The Medminder app reminds to take medicines on time, along with keeping track of the prescription, scheduling healthcare appointments and providing usage trends to help prevent an emergency.
Our key users are lonely elderly people who need to take pills on daily basis, and who have difficulty in remembering to take their pills on time. They are lonely, and depressed and have reduced cognitive abilities due to aging. They may keep forgetting which pills to take at a particular time, and attending any scheduled medical check-ups. They are independent, and go about doing their daily tasks, activities, and responsibilities and may have care-givers who are away & helpless but concerned about them. Their care-givers want to actively monitor the patient's medical regimen, and receive any alerts to be informed and prevent an emergency.
As our population ages, many adult children are becoming more involved in their parent’s care. This includes larger issues such as finances and make their homes safer to more daily involvement such as transportation and meals. Parents are taking more medication so an added stress with a parent who is still on their own is making sure they take the right medication and at the right time.
